Scholasic Book Wizard

This information came from Scholastic today. The tour looks like a really helpful service. Of course, they want you to purchase books, but there is a ton of useful information without making a purchase. The guided tour of the Book Wizard makes it look easy to use to find specific books and materials or to create a book list for your class or for summer reading.

Easy Photo Editing

NWOCA session Saturday morning had this great site that is a part of Google. It is a separate free site that you can join or just use. Maybe we'll have some time to work together on this one to adjust photos for our web pages.

PICNIK is the name.

Interactive Websites - Great for SMART Boards

Don't be overwhelmed by this great resource from the Ohio Free-Tech Conference. Just explore and try a few. These would be more on lesson planning (not PD) and probably not appropriate for CEUs.

This web site has pages of links for interactive sites to use on a SMART Board with the whole class or small groups. They are suggested for grades K-3, but many sites would also work well in older grades for review or fun. Some will be used in computer lab.

Download the Word page and then click on link to a site. Mrs. Newell suggests saving the sites on your computer for later use and tells how to do it. Sites are grouped into subjects/categories: math, language arts, science, social studies, art & music, holiday, and indoor recess.

Be sure to listen to the cute Technology song.

Tammy's Technology Tips for Teachers

This tech savvy educator has great site. The kick youtube instructions are here with many other great tips.

Tammy was one of the featured presenters at the Ohio Free-Tech Conference. I attended all six of her talks and all were full of great sites and information, including starting and adding to a blog. All handouts are online. Just click on the Training Handouts tab at the top and scroll to Ohio Free-Tech, February 24.

Exploring this site might even work for you for CEUs.
